ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY PROCEDURES

Providence Heart Institute cardiologists have taken a leading role in the field of electrophysiology -- the diagnosis and repair of the heart's electrical system. Providence Heart Institute's state-of-the-art electrophysiology (EP) department provides a full range of services, including diagnostic testing and interventional therapies like ablation and the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The EP staff performs more than 2,000 electrophysiology-related procedures each year.

Electrophysiology is the special treatment of complex heart rhythms, or heart arrhythmias. Providence Heart Institute's electrophysiology specialists, along with nurse specialists and other highly trained technicians, bring considerable medical expertise in the evaluation and treatment of heart rhythm problems and the complications they pose.
